Do you have a passion for shopping? If yes, You need to think of opening a personal shopper home business. A personal shopper service is considered to be very valuable. They do the shopping for people who either cannot do their own shopping or do not want to do their own shopping. Some personal shoppers even work as stylists by choosing clothes and decor for their clients. Others simply take care of buying the items on their client's shopping list. The first thing you should do before deciding to start this kind of a business is look for the demand in your area.

If you are in a large city like New York City or Los Angeles, you will likely be one of many personal shoppers. However, you will also have a bigger client base and be more likely to get high profile and/or big money jobs. If you are in a small town, you may be able to get work shopping for the elderly and/or disabled but likely won't get many stylist jobs because the need just isn't there. That doesn't mean you can't make money, however. Most personal shoppers charge a commission fee that is based on the amount of each purchase. Depending on what you charge and how many clients you have you could make a little or a lot of money.

Once you decide that being a personal shopper is right for you, the next step is decide what your business is going to be called. Some people decide on a business name while others use their first and last name followed by the designation of personal shopper. After you have chosen the name for your new venture it is time to get all the necessary business licenses. Then you can start developing a marketing strategy to get your first clients. A business like personal shopping is something that may spread by word of mouth. If a client likes your service he or she is likely to tell friends and family.

That doesn't mean you don't need to advertise your personal shopper home business. Good advertising is crucial to your success. You could start out with a Yellow Pages listing and a newspaper advertisement. This is a fairly inexpensive advertising strategy that you can expand on in the future. Eventually you might want to advertise your services on radio and/or television. Like any other business venture, success as a personal shopper depends on many factors. One of the most important things is good customer service. If people like you, they will probably come back again and again.
